After airing on the BBC, actress Lucy Punch’s Amandaland has become a Netflix hit.
Lucy Punch’s Amandaland has become a Netflix hit.
The actress, 48, reprises her role as Amanda in the spin-off to the long-running sitcom Motherland, and is joined by Joanna Lumley, as Amanda’s mother Felicity and Phillipa Dunne as Anne.
The series, which premiered in 2025, follows Amanda navigating life after divorce, downsizing and raising teenage children and after being originally broadcast on the BBC, the six-part series – alongside a Christmas special featuring Jennifer Saunders – has since been added to Netflix, and has quickly climbed its viewing charts.
The series is also now set to feature in a Comic Relief sketch involving multiple figures named Amanda.
The segment includes Amanda Holden, Amanda Lamb, Amanda Barrie, Amanda Byram and Amanda Collier, alongside Sara Cox and Lydia West.
A TV insider told the Daily Mirror: “Expect mix-ups, misunderstandings, and classic slapstick humour in this unmissable Comic Relief Amandaland special.”
Amanda Holden said: “I am a massive fan of Amandaland. We watch it religiously in our house, so it’s a little bit of an out-of-body experience for me.”
Sara Cox added: “I was playing the DJ, so it wasn’t that much of a stretch, but it was just brilliant to work with actual Amanda from Amandaland, and so many iconic Amandas. We had Lamb, we had Holden, we had Barrie – who I grew up with, not literally – but on Coronation Street.
“So, it’s been an incredible time pretending to be an actor and getting to work with amazing Lydia West.”

Lucy became known for her performances in films including Hot Fuzz, Bad Teacher, Dinner for Schmucks and Into the Woods, often playing eccentric or socially awkward characters.
On television, she has continued to balance British and American work, appearing in Ben and Kate, A Series of Unfortunate Events and Motherland, where her portrayal of Amanda Hughes earned particular acclaim.
