Ronan Keating is to learn more about himself and his home turf in an emotional BBC adventure series.

Wild Atlantic follows the Boyzone co-frontman on a "surprising and fun" voyage around Ireland with his loved ones, as well as celebrity guests, as he opens up on his childhood and family life.

Ronan, 49, said: "It’s felt really special making this series, rediscovering magical places that have meant so much to me and my family.

"I was 16 when I left Ireland, and there was so much of the west coast I hadn’t seen. Now, I’m coming home, and I can’t wait for viewers to share all the laughter and tears along the way."

The No Matter What hitmaker's trek kicks off in County Cork, where he and his nephew, Ruairi, battle it out in a game of road bowling, before Ronan arrives in County Kerry to meet his brother, Gary, for a spot of fishing on Killarney's Lough Leane.

Ronan will travel from County Mayo to Sligo, where he will meet up with Westlife's Shane Filan, 46, for a horse riding excursion on Strandhill Beach.

Ronan and his nephew Conall then set sail to Clare Island - a special place for the entire Keating family.

The Love You Anyway singer then goes north to explore the picturesque northwest coast on his motorbike with longtime friend, artist Terry Bradley, before giving an "impromptu performance in one of Donegal’s popular country music venues".

And Ronan lowers the curtain on his epic trip in Derry, where he and comedienne Diona Doherty, 37, visit the Derry Walls before they then turn their hands to farming to learn what makes a competitive sheepherder.

Wild Atlantic - produced by Alleycats TV - airs on BBC One Northern Ireland and BBC iPlayer from Monday (16.03.26) and on BBC Two from April 6.
