Drew Barrymore has secured a two-season renewal for her talk show.

In a deal that will keeping the daytime programme The Drew Barrymore Show on air through to 2028, the renewal – which will take the series into its seventh and eighth seasons – was announced on Monday (09.03.26) by CBS Media Ventures, the company that produces and distributes the programme.

Drew, 51, said in a statement: “This show began as a space for intimate conversation, and we’re continuing to plant our flag as a truly multi-platform experience.”

The former child actress added: “We live in a world where people discover content in so many different ways, and from the very start in 2020, our mission was to break the mould rather than conform to the traditional daytime landscape.

“I hold myself accountable to staying savvy about how and where this show is seen – feeding every corner that counts, while daring to just be myself and figure out life with others.

“My curiosity about people is what fuels me. I’m so excited to continue as I see this endeavour as an opportunity and a gift.“Our show family is deeply grateful for the support of CBS and George Cheeks, who all helped us get here.”

Jason Kurtz, the executive producer of Drew’s chat show, added: “Drew is the original influencer – a true trendsetter and culture-driving force who has consistently stayed ahead of the conversation.”

He also said: “The success of this show is rooted in the fact that Drew shows up as her unfiltered, authentic self every single day, continually challenging the conventions of daytime television and reimagining what the format can be in a multi-platform world.”

Drew, who executive produces her show as well as hosting the programme, launched it in 2020 and it‘s filmed in New York.

The announcement comes during a difficult period for daily talk shows in the United States, with several high-profile programmes ending.

CBS’ late night series The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, hosted by Stephen Colbert, is due to end in May, while NBCUniversal’s The Kelly Clarkson Show, fronted by Kelly Clarkson, and Debmar-Mercury’s Sherri, hosted by Sherri Shepherd, are also both expected to finish by the end of the year.

The renewal places Drew’s programme alongside The Jennifer Hudson Show, hosted by Jennifer Hudson, as one of the daytime shows recently securing further seasons.

According to CBS Media Ventures, the renewal includes commitments from CBS-owned television stations in major US markets including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Drew’s programme has also been renewed on stations owned by Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group.

CBS Media Ventures said the show has received time slot upgrades in several cities, including Seattle, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Charlotte, Baltimore, Kansas City and Cincinnati.

The distributor added the programme is averaging 1.6 million viewers, making the current run the show’s most-watched season to date.

It added Drew’s show has “started taking long-form, audience-free interviews with guests and distributing them in two ways – as a broadcast edit and as an extended digital cut on the show’s YouTube channel”.
