Nick Mohammed initially thought doing show like The Celebrity Traitors would be 'career suicide'
Nick Mohammed played as a Faithful and reached the final of BBC's The Celebrity Traitors in 2025.
Nick Mohammed initially thought doing a show like The Celebrity Traitors would be "career suicide" - five years before he signed up for it.
The 45-year-old actor originally believed it would cause people not to "take me seriously" - but, ultimately, he was proved wrong.
Nick - who reached the final as a Faithful in the debut star-studded series of the BBC's ultimate game of backstabbing, betrayal and deceit in 2025 - told the Saturday Guardian magazine how he felt "nervous" about agreeing to do The Celebrity Traitors.
He explained: "I hadn't ever 'played' myself on TV before. Even when I did Taskmaster, I dressed as Dracula, to hide being something."
However, Nick said yes because he enjoyed the civilian version of The Traitors and knew that some big figures were already on board, including broadcaster Clare Balding, 55, and 68-year-old actor Stephen Fry.
Explaining why he initially thought doing a reality TV show would be bad for his career, Nick continued: "Five years ago, I would have thought a show like that would be career suicide, that no one would take me seriously.
"But, ironically, it's the opposite: TV commissioners now want to cast people who the public recognise."
And Nick is delighted that his alter ego, Mr. Swallow - a comedy magician he tours as - has become more popular because of The Celebrity Traitors.
He said: "One of the lovely things about doing Ted Lasso and Traitors is that now Mr. Swallow has a bigger audience."
On November 6, 2025, millions of people tuned in to watch Traitor, comedian Alan Carr, 49, lie his way to bag the £87,500 prize pot, which he donated to Neuroblastoma UK, a children's cancer charity.
It comes after he successfully remained undetected as a deceitful to finalists Nick, retired rugby union player Joe Marler, 35, and 56-year-old historian David Olusoga.
After Alan unmasked himself as a Traitor and was declared the winner, he broke down in tears, saying: "I’m so sorry, it’s been tearing me apart, I’m so sorry.”
David and Nick then gave Alan a big hug.
David told him: "You did brilliantly, Alan! It’s a game!"
Nick said: "You did absolutely brilliantly. It was amazing."
Alan then admitted to them that he "feels so bad", to which Nick replied: "Don’t be stupid, think about the charity, it’s amazing."
