Strictly Come Dancing's Erin Boag rushed her son to hospital after he "severed" his finger.

Ewan, 11, sliced off his middle finger in a door whilst he was playing with pals, and he was admitted to two hospitals before medical staff fixed his injury.

Recalling the horror accident that happened almost three weeks ago, Erin, 50, said in a video shared to Instagram on Thursday (05.03.26): "Two and a half weeks ago, my son, Ewan, who's 11 years old, severed his finger in a door, playing with friends.

"Middle finger, left hand. And when I say severed, I mean severed, you know, flesh, bone, fingernail, the whole lot."

The star - who was a pro on the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance competition from 2004 until 2012 - and Ewan made a "quick dash" to Kingston Hospital's Accident and Emergency (A+E) where he was looked after, checked out and X-rayed.

They were then referred to St. George's Hospital, South London, for an operation that saved his finger.

Erin - who has Ewan with her husband, business consultant Peter O'Dowd - said: "The paediatrics there, the special department where they do plastic surgery, where they did an operation on Ewan and saved his finger, bandaged it up."

She told her fans that the aftercare "has been incredible"

Erin then shared her gratitude for the staff at Kingston and St. George's hospitals.

She continued: "I just want to say thank you. Thank you to Kingston Hospital. Thank you to St. George's, thank you to all the staff there that we dealt with, from reception to nurses, to doctors, to the plastic surgeons.

"Thank you for the care that you gave my son. Thank you for saving his finger. The whole process has been great, as great as it can be with an operation like that. But thank you from myself. Thank you from Ewan."

And Erin assured her fans that Ewan is recovering well.

She ended her video with: "Everything is now looking up for him, and he'll be back to sport in no time and playing the piano, and that's all because of the NHS. So thank you again."
