'We deserve to grow our family' Louise Thompson opens up on exploring surrogacy
Former Made in Chelsea star Louise Thompson has opened up about her and partner Ryan Libbey's potential surrogacy journey, in a bid to have a second child.
Louise Thompson and Ryan Libbey are looking into surrogacy to grow their family, because she believes they "deserve" to have another child.
The former Made in Chelsea star nearly lost her life twice after giving birth to their son Leo, four, and it left her unable to safely carry another child.
As a result, the couple have been exploring surrogacy options.
Speaking on This Morning, she said: "Ryan and I are in a really good spot.
"We have obviously been through something traumatic, but four years on we are ready to move forward and look into the future having done a lot of therapy, a lot of work on ourselves and on our relationship.
"We feel really grateful for what we have, we have a beautiful child at home and would love to give him a sibling.
"We’re not willing to let what happened be the be all and end all. I think we deserve to grow our family and have another baby."
But Ryan admitted he is "still accepting the routes" the couple are looking into in a bid to grow their family, and honestly admitted that "none of it feels quite right" in his heart.
He added: "That first year was so traumatic, it’s taken us a long time to get back to the position now... Louise was really unwell in every way, she was so removed.
"She couldn’t put things together in her mind because of the level of trauma and things that went wrong.
"To try and steady that ship and keep moving took chunks out of me...
"Maybe in some ways I’m still accepting the routes we are exploring now to expand our family.
"None of it feels quite right in my heart, but I know we as a family and you [Louise] in particular deserve that chance to do it in the right way."
But Louise admitted she and Ryan feel "excited for the next chapter".
She added: "I feel so grateful to be in a position where I had an amazing support network and I’ve got to a place today where things are looking up.
"I want to speak to women who have recently given birth."
