Jason Manford has had 'conversations' about starring in The Celebrity Traitors
Comedian Jason Manford has revealed that he has held "conversations" with BBC bosses about featuring in series two of The Celebrity Traitors.
Jason Manford has revealed that he is in talks about joining The Celebrity Traitors line-up.
The 44-year-old comedian has held "conversations" about heading into Scotland's Ardross Castle for the second series of BBC reality show – although he joked about bigger names being chosen ahead of him.
Jason told The Sun: "Yeah, there's been conversations and stuff about it behind the scenes.
"But I think I'm waiting for them to come down the ladder of show business because this is a success in the first one.
"They're like, Tom Hiddleston, Helen Mirren..."
Jason confessed that there are "not many" reality shows he would sign up for, although he would make an exception for The Celebrity Traitors as he and his family are avid fans of the programme.
The Waterloo Road actor said: "I mean, there's not many that I would, but that one...
"Yeah, because me kids love it, me wife loves it, we all love it. And certainly, I'd feel like I'd enjoy it as well."
Manford added: "But also it's fun and you get to be yourself a little bit.
"I feel like I'm never worried about stuff like that because I know, even in secret, when I'm having a chat with someone, I'm never going to be a d***.
"You're never going to catch me out and suddenly go, 'Oh, he's slagging him off.'
"The only thing I think about it, I was going to say this when my kids were asking about it, is I feel like I'd have to be a Traitor because if I was a Faithful and someone accused me of being a Traitor, that would affect my ego so much.
"Because I'd be thinking, 'What is it about me that made you think I'm (a Traitor)... That's backstabbing.'"
Should Jason sign up for the show, he could be joined by fellow comic David Mitchell – with the Peep Show star reportedly a target for BBC bosses.
A source told The Sun: "Producers think David would be amazing as a contestant.
"Not only is he hilarious but he’s also super smart - in many ways he will remind viewers of Stephen Fry, who went down great with viewers in series one.
"No doubt David’s time on Would I Lie To You? will be both helpful and a hindrance when it comes to being at the round table."
