The Chase’s Anne Hegerty has revealed a new spinoff to the ITV show is in the works.

The 67-year-old quizzer shared she and her fellow Chasers would be filming for a new programme titled The Chase Around The World this spring, and would involve the group “travelling around and people having to try and work out where we are and who we are”.

Speaking with the Daily Mirror newspaper, Anne said: “We’re filming a new spin-off show in May, The Chase Around The World.

“I can’t say too much, but it involves the Chasers travelling around and people having to try and work out where we are and who we are.

“Last year I made two trips to Australia to do The Chase Australia. We’ve filmed four pilot episodes of a possible Chase New Zealand, and I’m hearing they’d probably like to take that to series. It’s just a question of when everyone can get together.”

When asked whether the programme would mean she would be flying off to New Zealand, Anne replied: “Well, for the pilot we filmed on the Australian set. I don’t know if they’ll want to build a whole set in New Zealand, it’s expensive , so we’ll have to wait and see.”

As for the original series, Anne said shooting for the next episodes of The Chase has not started yet.

When asked if she was filming for the next series, she said: “Not for another, let me think, about three weeks.

“In another three weeks we’ll be back. But we’ve got loads in the can, and we’ve got an entire series of Beat the Chasers that hasn’t been seen yet, so there’s plenty.”

Anne also revealed which star she would like to face off with on The Chase.

The I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! alum teased: “I’d love to take on Stephen Fry. He’s so smart, but I bet there’s stuff he doesn’t know.

“He’s probably smarter than me overall, but I might outsmart him on certain things.”

Reflecting on The Chase, Anne admitted it was hard to imagine TV without the quiz show - which has been on the box since 2009.

She said: “There have been times when it’s been out-rating everything except the news. It’s beaten the soaps. It’s doing absolutely fine.”
