The Traitors star Harriet Tyce reveals how BBC show could inspire next crime novel
Crime writer and The Traitors star Harriet Tyce has opened up on how elements of the BBC show could inspire her next book.
Harriet Tyce admits The Traitors could inspire her next crime novel.
The 53-year-old writer - who is also a former barrister - appeared on the recent series of BBC's deceitful game show, which saw her banished at the Roundtable after she gunned for Traitor Rachel Duffy without being able to convince her fellow players.
Asked if her experience in the castle could play into a future novel, she told RadioTimes.com: "Maybe in time. The psychology of all of it fascinates me.
"I mean, I can't tell you how much the immersive experience, how different people react to that.
"Whether you believe it [or] you don't believe it, it's real and I think that there's something in that."
However, the author played down the idea of key aspect of the show making it onto the page.
She added: "But in terms of some sort of roundtable, picking them off one by one? No, that that won't be happening. But I think in a while maybe."
Harriet's next novel, Witch Trial, will be released on February 26.
The synopsis reads: "When 18-year-old Christian Shaw is found dead in an Edinburgh park, the city reels - and the shock only deepens when police charge her best friends, Eliza Lawson and Isobel Smyth, with her murder.
"As social media explodes and headlines scream for justice, rumours of bullying spiral into something darker: whispers of rituals, obsession, and a teenage pact gone wrong.
"Matthew Phillips, a respected heart surgeon, is reluctantly called for jury duty on the case. But as the trial unfolds - and the girls reveal a chilling defence no one saw coming - he begins to question everything: the motives, the evidence, even his own judgement.
"Who's telling the truth? Who can be trusted? And what really happened to Christian Shaw? Let the Witch Trial begin..."
