Tom Allen announces new project weeks after quitting The Apprentice: You're Fired
Tom Allen has confirmed his new project after he stepped down as host of The Apprentice: You're Fired after six years.
Tom Allen has announced his first project since quitting as host of The Apprentice: You're Fired.
The 42-year-old comedian took to Instagram on January 14 to confirm his exit from hosting The Apprentice's BBC Two spin-off show after six years to "embark on new voyages".
Now, Tom has revealed he is joining the comedy musical Titanique, as Ruth, from March 4 to April 12 at the Criterion Theatre.
Appearing on Heart Breakfast on Monday (26.01.26), he told hosts Amanda Holden, 54, and 55 year old Jamie Theakston: "I'm very excited to tell you that I am going to be joining the company of Titanique!
"It's so ridiculous fun. I'm going to be playing the part of Ruth, previously played by Carl Mullaney. I've got big shoes to fill, but I'm going in to play Ruth, the mother of Rose, the uptight one, who's putting her in that corset."
Tom has been having his vocal, singing and movement lessons before he starts rehearsals in a few days.
And the star feels "excited and a bit nervous" about joining the cast of the Olivier award-winning Titanique - a 90-minute "high camp spoof" of the 1997 film, Titanic, narrated by a fictionalised Celine Dion.
Tom added: "It's an incredible cast. One of the things about the show is all of the performers are amazing singers, they're brilliant singers and dancers.
"So I don't want to walk in there and then just not know what I'm doing and then be like, 'Oh, great, look what we've got here, they're all triple threats.'
"So, I've been building up to it. But it's been great and lovely to be doing something totally different to what I've done before."
Tom joins a stellar cast, including Luke Bayer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) as Jack, Rose Galbraith (13 Going on 30) as Rose, and Astrid Harris (Titaníque, Paris) as Celine Dion.
On January 14, Tom announced that he had quit The Apprentice: You're Fired after he took the role in 2019, via Instagram.
He captioned a video of his introduction to the show - in which he performed a routine with a group of dancers - with: "I have decided, after six years, to say goodbye to The Apprentice: You’re Fired.
"I have had so much fun working with the most incredible creative people to make it all happen. (I was also getting concerned Lord Sugar might realise I know nothing about business - as above video demonstrates). (sic)"
Tom then went on to thank Lord Sugar and his show aides, Baroness Karren Brady, 56, and Tim Campbell, 48, for their support.
Tom continued: "Thank you @lord_sugar @karren_brady_official @timcampbell_mbe for all their support and encouragement at every step and also thank you to each @apprenticeuk candidate and guest panelist who joined me in the studio. (sic)"
Following comic Tom's exit from hosting The Apprentice: You're Fired, the BBC Two series has been revamped, and Angela Scanlon, 42, is fronting The Apprentice: Unfinished Business.
The Apprentice: Unfinished Business will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, with audio available on BBC Sounds.
