Rosemary Shrager would love to present MasterChef.

The 74-year-old star has previously appeared on the BBC cookery show as a guest judge and admits that she would be tempted by a permanent role on the programme following the departures of former hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace - even though Grace Dent and Anna Haugh have been announced as the presenters for the upcoming series.

Rosemary told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "That would be fun, wouldn't it?

"I'd love to present MasterChef, it would be amazing. I've done MasterChef, the English version, as a guest judge, but it would be absolutely fabulous."

Rosemary featured in the ITV reality series Ladette to Lady during the 2000s but admits that she was hesitant about signing up to be the cookery teacher on the programme - although she was ultimately glad that she took the job.

The chef recalled: "I had a real dilemma with Ladette to Lady, I first of all had to think about doing it very carefully. I didn't say yes straight away, believe me. I'd been doing television for a long time before that.

"I used to say I was the best kept secret, I was on Channel 5 a lot and nobody really had Channel 5. Ladette to Lady, what it did to me, it made me more tolerant of the young and how I saw them and how difficult it was for them with peer pressure. For me, from a personal, humbling point of view, I got a tremendous amount out of Ladette to Lady. I enjoyed the show; there was a lot of laughter, and they were great fun.

"I felt really honoured to know some of these young people – some of them were not good but it was a real education for me as a person, it taught me a lot and we got them to do some very good food, I think it was one of my favourite programmes."

Rosemary has been open about her use of weight-loss jabs but insists that exercise and health eating have enabled to her to lose more than three stone.

The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! 2012 contestant explained: "When you come off, which I've done, you just eat healthily, jabs are for one thing, jabs for me were a sideline to get me going.

"Everyone knows I've been big all my life, and everybody knows I've lost weight, but it's sustaining it.

"You have to understand that you have to actually sustain it; it can be done by exercise, but it's important to understand that you have to eat healthily."
