Louie Spence has enlisted the help of some showbiz pals for his new YouTube series.

The 56-year-old dancer and choreographer is to star in weekly episodes of Louie Spence In Care, which will follow him as he takes on a newly-created role of CEO of Entertainment at Country Care Group homes in Essex and beyond.

In the show, Louie will aim to entertain care home residents with the help of several stars, including Alfie Boe and Ruthie Henshall.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Some of these people will never leave that home.

"So I contacted lots of my friends from the West End and said ‘Would you come and sing a song?’ So people like Ruthie Henshall, Alfie Boe, Kerry Ellis, Anna-Jane Casey - and they all said yes, no problem. I’ll try and get one person a week. And there will also be me mincing around!

"I went to the West End stars first because for elderly people, or those with dementia, songs are the greatest way to open up their minds.

"So these theatre people with their incredible voices will be great entertainment."

Louie is also hoping to tempt his Spice Girls star pal Emma Bunton onto the series.

He added: "I’m going to reach out to lots of people and see what they say.

"I’ll be calling on everyone I know. Emma Bunton is a dear friend..."

The Louie Spence In Care format has been co-created by Louie Spence and CC-Lab’s development director and executive producer Hannah Springham.

He said in a statement: "Well darlings, I’m back - not that I ever went away. Back as what, I hear you scream?

"Louie Spence In Care, that’s what.

"Yes darlings, I’m in care: CEO of Entertainment across 49 care homes nationwide, bringing sparkle, joy, high kicks and splits to our wonderful pensioners.

"All my family work in care, so I’m finally joining the family business – in my own way.

"And of course, some of my celebrity friends, West End stars and whoever else I pick up along the way will be coming too."

The first episode of Louie Spence In Care is out now, on its own dedicated YouTube channel.
