David Walliams "strongly denies" any allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards women.

The 54-year-old TV star has issued a denial after he was dropped by his long-time publisher, HarperCollins, following an investigation that began in 2024.

In response to the allegations, a spokesperson for the star - who is one of the UK's most successful children's authors - said: "David has never been informed of any allegations raised against him by HarperCollins. He was not party to any investigation or given any opportunity to answer questions. David strongly denies that he has behaved inappropriately and is taking legal advice."

Walliams has been accused of harassing junior female employees at HarperCollins, and the publisher recently announced that it was dropping him from their label.

The company said in a statement: "HarperCollins takes employee well-being extremely seriously and has processes in place for reporting and investigating concerns.

"To respect the privacy of individuals, we do not comment on internal matters."

In 2022, Walliams left his role on Britain's Got Talent after he admitted to making "disrespectful comments" about two contestants during a break in filming.

The comedy star made the comments in January 2020 during auditions at the London Palladium.

He said after the recording was leaked: "I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020. These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry."

A spokesperson for Simon Cowell and Syco Entertainment, the co-producer of Britain’s Got Talent, said at the time: "Britain’s Got Talent is a family show and we do not condone the use of any such language."

However, Walliams subsequently sued production company Fremantle for misuse of private information and breaching data laws. The parties ultimately reached an "amicable resolution" in their dispute.
