I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! host Declan Donnelly halted Cyclone filming over 'hypothermia' fears in 2020

Jordan North revealed that the 2020 Celebrity Cyclone became a freezing ordeal so severe that Declan Donnelly stopped filming over hypothermia concerns, marking one of the toughest moments of Jordan's I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! experience.

Declan Donnelly called for filming of the 2020 I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! Celebrity Cyclone trial to be stopped amid fears the campmates were "going to get hypothermia".

What is a highlight of the show turned into one of the "worst nights" of Jordan North's life because it was freezing cold when doing the challenge.

It saw him, Shane Richie, 61, Vernon Kay, 51, and Giovanna Fletcher, 40, navigate a slippery water slide whilst being smacked with obstacles and slime to earn stars.

Recalling the moment in the 2020 series of the show - which was moved from the usual Australia jungle location to Gwrych Castle, Abergele, North Wales, due to the COVID-19 pandemic - on the Capital Breakfast: After the Show, Show! podcast, Jordan, 35, told co-hosts Chris Stark, 38, and 39 year old Sian Welby: "In the cyclone in Wales, it looks amazing, doesn’t it?

"But let me tell you, it was genuinely one of the worst nights of my life. It was f****** freezing. I have never been so cold. To the point I was literally crying. For some reason, we put our pyjamas on underneath our wetsuits.

"We thought that would keep us warmer, Shane Richie told us to. So, it basically eliminated the whole purpose of a wetsuit.

"So, we were all there thinking, ‘Yes, we’ve nailed this.' We were absolutely freezing, to the point the producers couldn’t understand.

"I remember [host] Dec stopping filming and being like, ‘What is up?’ and we were like, ‘We’re freezing.' And Dec was like, ‘Let’s wrap this up, these guys are going to get hypothermia.’ It was horrific."

When the foursome got back to the castle, he, Vernon, Shane and Giovanna - who won that series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! - had to "peel" their pyjamas off their body.

Jordan - who finished as runner-up - would not have done the programme if it was filmed in Australia because he was "scared of flying" at the time.

And he would have hated living in the critter-filled jungle, located in Dungay, New South Wales.

But Jordan thinks the show - which is "the best thing that ever happened" to him - has boosted his confidence.

He said: "If you knew me before, I just lived in a little safe lane and never did anything out of my comfort zone. I would never have hosted Jingle Bell Ball or anything like that. It would have been way too nervous."
