In a move that will delight fans of the franchise, The Real Housewives of London and The Real Housewives of Cheshire are reportedly being lined up to become a crossover show.
The Real Housewives of London and The Real Housewives of Cheshire are reportedly being lined up to become a crossover show.
The proposed format – said to be being developed by the same production company behind both shows – would unite the Northern England-based Housewives from Cheshire with the London set in a new series.
Cheshire, which made stars of Dawn and Lauren Simon, is one of the UK’s most established reality-series brands, while London is the newer franchise from streaming service Hayu.
A source told The Sun: “Hardcore reality fans aren’t welded to one particular Housewives franchise and love the mess, b******* and glamour the whole brand represents.
“In real life, many of the cast of Cheshire and London know each other casually and it would be so easy for the northern ladies to attend an event featured on London or vice versa.
“It’s a fun idea that is in its infancy.”
The crossover would bring together the distinctive regional voices of both franchises after Cheshire aired on ITVBe, while London made Hayu's top ten.
London was a new venture for Hayu and started earlier this featuring castmates including Panthea Parker and Amanda Cronin.
The US Real Housewives franchise has made stars of cast members including Bethenny Frankel.
The Real Housewives franchise has become one of the most successful reality-TV brands in the world, growing from a single US series into a global entertainment phenomenon.
Beginning with The Real Housewives of Orange County in 2006, the format quickly expanded across America, with hit versions in cities including New York, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Miami and Salt Lake City.
Each city introduced its own cast, drama and style, building a loyal fanbase and dominating social-media conversation.
The franchise soon went international, with adaptations in countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa and Dubai.
Viewers are said to be drawn to its mix of glamour, wealth, friendships and conflicts, as well as its highly quotable moments. Several housewives have become celebrities beyond the show, launching businesses, books and spin-offs.
Streaming platforms have helped the franchise reach even wider audiences, cementing Real Housewives as a global pop-culture staple nearly two decades after it began.
