Martin Scorsese is returning as host, narrator and executive producer for the second season of his Fox Nation docudrama The Saints.
It will premiere on 16 November, according to Fox Nation, with the new season due to open with an episode dedicated to Saint Patrick.
The series, created by Matti Leshem, explores the lives of significant Christian saints, with Martin guiding viewers through their stories.
Season one featured figures such as John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene and Joan of Arc.
The new season’s first four episodes will be released weekly from 16 November to 7 December, with an additional batch of episodes due to premiere in 2026.
Season two will include episodes focused on Saint Patrick, Saint Peter, Thomas Becket and others.
And a 7 December instalment, centred on Carlo Acutis – known as “God’s Influencer” – will be directed by Martin’s daughter Francesca Scorsese, marking her first formal directorial collaboration with her father.
The episode examines Acutis’ use of the Internet to spread Christian teachings, which earned him the title of the first “millennial saint”.
Francesca previously appeared in We Are Who We Are, the HBO miniseries directed by Luca Guadagnino.
Her work on The Saints marks her move behind the camera after years of acting.
Martin has had a long association with Christian themes throughout his career.
He directed The Last Temptation of Christ in 1988 and Silence in 2016, both exploring the tension between faith and human struggle.
He is also developing a new feature film about Jesus Christ.
The Saints was created by Matti Leshem and developed by Martin for Lionsgate Alternative Television.
It is written by Kent Jones, who began his career as Martin’s video archivist and went on to co-direct several documentaries with him, including A Letter to Elia.
The new episodes will be directed by Matti, Francesca, Rubin Stein, Devereux Milburn and Elizabeth Chomko.
Executive producers on the project include Craig Piligian, Julie Yorn, Rick Yorn, Lisa Frechette and Christopher Donnelly. Production companies involved are Lionsgate Alternative Television, Sikelia Productions, Weimaraner Republic Pictures and LBI Entertainment.
