Sir Stephen Fry honoured at 2025 Variety Club Showbusiness Awards
Sir Stephen Fry led the winners at the 2025 Variety Club Showbusiness Awards on Sunday (19.10.25) night.

Sir Stephen Fry's illustrious career was honoured at the 2025 Variety Club Showbusiness Awards.
The 68-year-old actor-and-broadcaster was awarded Outstanding Contribution to Theatre and Film, honouring his extraordinary career as an actor, writer, and advocate for the arts at the event, held at The Londoner Hotel, Leicester Square, London, on Sunday (19.10.25) night.
The Variety Club Showbusiness Awards are an annual celebration of exceptional entertainment, recognising the achievements of top talent across film, TV, comedy, theatre, and music, while supporting the work of Variety, the Children's Charity, by raising funds to transform the lives of children with disabilities and disadvantages across the UK.
Speaking about Variety following his win, Stephen told the charity in a video uploaded to its Instagram Stories: "Oh, I thank Variety because it's proved in 70 years that it really makes a difference.
"It has now generations of older people who benefited as children from the wonderful facilities and help that was given to them by Variety.
"And they will be the first to say, 'Now go on supporting it for the next generation.'"
Elsewhere, actress Lesley Joseph, 80, was thrilled to have won the Variety Club Gold Heart Legacy Award 2025 for Outstanding Contribution to Theatre and Television.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I've not got many awards in my life, really. And I've just turned 80, and this is a new award, and it's called the Golden Heart Legacy Award, and everybody had to be over the age of The King [Charles], because he came on last year as a patron. So, yeah, it's exciting. I'm really pleased.
"It actually feels rather nice, because when you're an actor, you always feel a little bit, 'Oh, I'm not good enough,' or, 'I don't know whether I've done that properly.' And you never feel, 'I'm great!' At least I never do.
"So to actually be recognised and be given an award, it's lifted my spirits."
Other winners at the event - hosted by Loose Women panellist Katie Piper, 42, and 38-year-old reality TV star Mark Wright - included actors William Roache, 93, and Barbara Knox, 92, who received the Variety Club Gold Heart Legacy Award 2025 for Outstanding Contribution to Television, celebrating their iconic, decades-long roles on TV, notably the ITV soap Coronation Street.
The much-loved TV presenting duo Ant McPartlin, 49, and Declan Donnelly, 50, bagged the Variety Club Silver Heart Award 2025 for Outstanding Contribution to Television.
And The Devil Wears Prada Musical star Vanessa Williams, 62, claimed the Variety Club Silver Heart Award 2025 for Outstanding Global Contribution to the Arts and Humanity.
Laurence Guinness, Chief Executive of Variety, The Children’s Charity, said: "Variety’s incredible award winners embody the very best of British entertainment.
We thank them all for their support. Their generosity helps to transform the lives of thousands of disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK at a time when vulnerable children need Variety’s assistance more than ever.
