'The girls are staying...' Gloria Hunniford insists no Loose Women panellists will lose their jobs amid ITV's budget cuts

ITV is axing over 220 jobs from 2026 as part of its budget cuts, and Loose Women panellist Gloria Hunniford is adamant that she and her show co-stars will not lose their jobs.

Loose Women's Gloria Hunniford insists she and her co-panellists will keep their jobs amid ITV's budget cuts.

In May, the broadcaster announced that over 220 jobs would be axed as part of its mission to save money, but the legendary TV presenter - who became a regular panellist on the programme in 2014 - has said it is the lunchtime talk show's crew that will be losing their positions.

Gloria exclusively told BANG Showbiz at the 2025 Best Heroes Awards, sponsored by DFS: "The girls are staying. Unfortunately, it’s the background teams that are being affected. But we’re not affected."

As well as the job cuts, ITV is slashing the on-air time for Loose Women to 30 weeks instead of 52 weeks from January 2026, and Gloria believes the programme's new scheduling will work.

She said: "The number of programmes per year has been reduced, but we’re lucky that we have other work to do as well.

"Not losing any particular sleepless nights, but we have it all lined up. It’ll work."

Meanwhile, Gloria - who turned 85 in April - vows not to retire because she loves working.

The star said: "I love working, I was taught to work. I’ve been working for decades, and so I want to work."

Gloria admitted she refused a suggestion from her youngest son Michael Keating - whom she has, as well as Paul Keating and the late Caron Keating, with her ex-husband, Don Keating - to slow down a little and do something else.

Glora said: "Sometimes my youngest son would say, ‘Honestly, why don’t you just ease off a bit and do something different, and sit and glance for a couple of months?’

"And I don’t want to. I like my work. You meet new people everyday, you learn something new everyday, and I like it.

"Why would I stop?"

Loose Women's bosses were reportedly looking to replace the programme's older stars, such as Gloria, Janet Street-Porter, 78, and Linda Robson, 67, with the younger members of the panel, including 26 year old GK Barry - real name Grace Keeling - Olivia Attwood, 34, and Frankie Bridge, 36, to boost ratings.

But Janet recently claimed there are "no plans" for ITV to axe older Loose Women panellists because ITV values the elder stars.

In July, the broadcaster told Bella magazine: "There are no plans to get rid of the older women, despite what some people have said!

"In fact, the reverse is true. ITV actually put out a statement saying we are the valued members of the show because the audience totally relate to us.

"I think Loose Women has become a programme that's trusted by a lot of women because we talk about the issues that they are concerned about - whether it's female health, domestic violence or how politicians don't really understand working women.

"I think the show has managed to connect to women who wouldn't otherwise have a voice.

"And it's delivered with a lot of laughs because we don't take ourselves too seriously."
