Tina Malone excited for Brookside and Hollyoaks crossover episode
Channel 4 is crossing over its former soap, Brookside, with Hollyoaks as part of the latter's 30th anniversary celebrations next month, and former Brookside actress Tina Malone cannot wait to watch it.

Tina Malone thinks the Brookside and Hollyoaks crossover episode will be an "interesting watch".
The 62-year-old actress - who played Mo McGee in Brookside from 1993 until 1998 - believes the upcoming special, which will air on October 22 on E4 as part of Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks' 30th anniversary celebrations, is a "great idea".
Tina exclusively told BANG Showbiz at the 2025 Best Heroes Awards, sponsored by DFS: "I think it’ll be really interesting to watch.
"And it’s a great idea. Let’s bring some nostalgia back. We need traditions and nostalgia back ...
"So, I hope it does really well."
The star will not reprise her character, Mo, for the special - something she is not disappointed about.
Tina - whose 44-year-old daughter Dannielle played Kelly Saunders in Hollyoaks from October to November 2011 - said: "No!
"I think it’s a great idea, my daughter was in Hollyoaks, and my nephew’s just got into Hollyoaks, and I was in Brookside for five years."
Tina - who appeared in 84 episodes of Brookside - also recalled how groundbreaking Channel 4's Liverpool-based soap's storylines were.
Asked what her highlight was being on the programme - which ended in 2003 due to declining viewing figures - Tina said: "I would probably say the bin bag episode where I was on the roof trying to lose weight - which then I was enormous!
"And, obviously, I’ve lost 12 stone since then.
"And it was great to do. It was great that they put the weight ‘issue’ into the show before anybody else did."
"Brookside was groundbreaking from day one and shot like a drama - two cameras - and phenomenal storylines. Sue [Johnston], Ricky [Tomlinson], great actors, Anna Friel, who’ve come from that show. Amazing actors."
It was recently revealed that Sue, 81, will be reprising her Brookside role as Sheila Grant, with Ricky, 86, back as her first husband, Bobby Grant, and John McArdle, 76, to play her second husband, Billy Corkhill, again.
Billy will also later appear in more episodes of Hollyoaks as the character heads to the Chester-based village - but the reasons why have been kept under wraps.
Paul Usher, 64, will be playing Bobby and Sheila's bad-boy son Barry Grant, and Philip Olivier, 45, and Suzanne Collins, 47, will be back as Tim 'Tinhead' O'Leary and Nikki Shadwick, respectively.
Anna Friel - who played Beth Jordache in Brookside - has ruled out a return for the Brookside and Hollyoaks crossover because the 49-year-old star has filming commitments overseas.
