Coronation Street bagged the Best Soap gong for the second year running at the 2025 Inside Soap Awards.

The hit ITV soap once again fended off EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.

As well as Best Soap, Coronation Street scooped up Best Comic Performance (for Jack P. Shepherd), and Best Storyline for Mason Radcliffe's (Luca Toola’s) death and Abi Franklin's (Sally Carman’s) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - beating Phil Mitchell: Hypermasculinity in crisis (EastEnders), John Sugden's (Oliver Farnworth) hero complex (Emmerdale) and Teenage sexual exploitation (Hollyoaks).

But the big winner of the night was Coronation Street's Vicky Myers, who claimed Best Actress - beating Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater, EastEnders), Beth Cordingly (Ruby Miligan, Emmerdale) and Isabelle Smith (Frankie Osborne, Hollyoaks) - and Best Partnership alongside Alison King (Carla Connor).

Vicky told Bang Showbiz: “I’m absolutely thrilled and it’s surreal actually to think that just over four years ago I came in as a guest star on four episodes and to be stood here now holding best actress award and best partnership award is surreal.”

Matching Coronation Street's five gong win was EastEnders.

Steve McFadden, 66 (Phil Mitchell), took home Best Actor - 19 days after he won his first National Television Award for Serial Drama Performance.

He fended off Jack P. Shepherd, 37, Jeff Hordley, 55 (Cain Dingle, Emmerdale), and Kieron Richardson, 39 (Ste Hay, Hollyoaks).

James Bye, 41, (Martin Fowler) claimed Best Exit after he bid farewell to Albert Square in emotional scenes during EastEnders' 40th anniversary week in February, in which his alter ego died after going into cardiac arrest after a steel beam - which had dropped onto Martin's body following an explosion in the Queen Victoria pub - was lifted.

Navin Chowdhry, 53, (Nish Panesar) bagged Best Villain, while Heather Peace, 50, (Eve Panesar-Unwin) won Soap Superstar - which went to Balvinder Sopal, 46, who plays Heather's on-screen wife Suki Panesar, in 2024

But just after 10 months in EastEnders, Laura Doddington, 44 (Nicola Mitchell), has made waves amongst Inside Soap magazine's readers, resulting in her being named Best Newcomer.

She told Bang Showbiz: “I'm so over the moon, like I cannot explain how much of a privilege it is to win this because it's voted for by the fans and that's just incredible, it blew my mind like absolutely blew my mind and I burst into tears, but it's you know, amazing, and like I say it's voted for by the fans, and that just means so much, they have taken to her and to my portrayal of her, so you know that is just wonderful.”

And it was a good night for ITV's second soap, Emmerdale, as it won three awards.

Best Family was given to The Dingles, the gripping limo crash disaster bagged Best Showstopper - fending off Craig’s death (Coronation Street), Nish and Suki’s final showdown (EastEnders) and Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) faces her cancer scars (Hollyoaks) - and Best Young Performer went to Amelia Flanagan (April Windsor).

Channel 4's Hollyoaks only claimed one award - Outstanding Achievement (Solo) for Nick Pickard (Tony Hutchinson).

Elsewhere at the 2025 Inside Soap Awards, Australian soap Neighbours - which is being rested in December after 40 years - won the Outstanding Achievement (Team) gong.

Also, Strictly Come Dancing 2025 contestant Stefan Dennis - who has played powerful businessman Paul Robinson in Neighbours on-and-off since 1985 - was named Best Daytime Star.

And BBC medical drama Casualty received one accolade - Best Drama Star for Michael Stevenson (Iain Dean)

Sadly, the corporation's school drama Waterloo Road failed to pick up an award at the 2025 Inside Soap Awards.
