Coronation Street's Vicky Myers was in disbelief about being the big winner at the Inside Soap Awards - a year after becoming a main cast member.

The 49-year-old actress has played Detective Sergeant Lisa Swain in the ITV soap since May 2021, originally on a recurring basis until becoming a more prominent face in Weatherfield in March 2024.

At the Inside Soap Awards on Monday night (29.09.25), Vicky went home with two gongs, Best Actress and Best Partnership alongside Alison King (Carla Connor), and she was overjoyed to beat Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater, EastEnders), Beth Cordingly (Ruby Miligan, Emmerdale) and Isabelle Smith (Frankie Osborne, Hollyoaks) to the Best Actress accolade.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz on the red carpet, she said: "I'm absolutely thrilled and it's surreal actually to think that just over four years ago I came in as a guest star on four episodes and then to be stood here now holding best actress award and best partnership award is surreal."

Vicky thinks Lisa's relatable personality traits have made her a much-loved character on the cobbles.

She explained: "I think she’s so broken and flawed, and she shows that. And for a long time, she’s got ways of masking it, and I think as much as I’m saying she shows that, she shows that in ways people can relate to.

"And also the job that she does, her sexuality doesn’t define her, and she gets on with it. But in the same vein, she’s also very hard on herself, so she has characteristics that people can relate to, perhaps.

"But when I read different episodes, I try to pick things out the characteristics in her that OK, that’s where she’s at in this moment in time. And sometimes it can switch very, very quickly.

"I love playing her, and long may it continue."

In November 2024, Lisa entered a relationship with Carla Connor (Alison King) - Carla's first ever same sex experience - and earlier this month, the pair decided to marry.

And Vicky is delighted that she and her "work wife" were recognised for their performance together in the Best Partnership category.

The actress said of her on-screen wife: "She’s absolutely incredible, and to get to go in our house on our set, and then walk down Coronation Street, and see the Connor-Swains house at number 6, and like you say, to work with Ali and to have worked with her so closely for over a year now, it’s brilliant.

"And we call each other work wives and stuff, and we have a great relationship off set."

Vicky and Alison fended off competition from Angela Wynter and Rudolph Walker (Yolande and Patrick Trueman, EastEnders), Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley (Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden, Emmerdale), and Harvey Virdi and Louis Emerick (Misbah Maalik and Donny Clark, Hollyoaks) to the statuette.

Vicky joked that she would try and sneakily show off her awards on the Corrie set.

Asked if she has got a place in your house for her accolades, the star quipped: "These are going everywhere with me. They’ll be popping up on set in the middle of scenes, you’ll be able to spot them.

"I don’t know yet! But for now, they’re just going to be - well, stuck to my hands!"
