Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is concerned that the "beastly" Kremlin tyrant will set his sights on conquering more countries if Russian troops do manage to conquer his country and outlined the continued importance of the West standing up to Moscow.

He told the Wall Street Journal newspaper: "That animal, that beast will develop a taste.

"Putin has to know that people won't shake his hand, that he no longer sits at the table with serious countries, that Russia is not part of international organisations.

"We would like to have certain things, but we can't wait for months."

It has been rumoured that Putin is planning to target another former Soviet republic if the Russian military succeeds in capturing Ukraine with Moldova thought to be next on the warmonger's list.

Meanwhile, Zelensky has urged China to use its global influence and "be involved with the peace process" despite the nation's close alliance with Russia.

He said: "I would not want such a country to stand by and watch people die.

"If you are big, this is what national greatness means. This is not a painting or a museum; it is a real, bloody war."
