Jared Harris cast in Martin Scorsese's film What Happens at Night
Jared Harris will feature alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in the cast of Martin Scorsese's upcoming movie What Happens at Night.
Jared Harris is set to star in Martin Scorsese's new movie What Happens at Night.
The 64-year-old actor will feature alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in the new Apple Original Films picture.
Adapted from the novel of the same name by Peter Cameron, What Happens at Night tells the dream-like story of a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby.
Their hotel is largely deserted but they encounter a string of characters including a faith healer, a depraved businessman and a flamboyant chanteuse, but nothing is quite as it seems. As the pair struggle to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about themselves and their lives together.
Scorsese will direct and produce for Sikelia Productions while the script is being written by Patrick Marber.
Patricia Clarkson and Mads Mikkelsen will also feature in the cast.
The film will mark the latest collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio, who most recently worked together on the 2023 crime epic Killers of the Flower Moon.
DiCaprio, 51, previously explained how his work with top directors such as Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson has come about because he tells filmmakers that he is "ready and game".
Asked about landing his jobs, the One Battle After Another star told The Hollywood Reporter: "Luck. Luck, and I guess the perseverance of just letting them know that you want to work with them, some day, when the time is right.
"That’s what I’ve been doing; that’s how I met Marty [Scorsese] when I was young, I just let him know that if he’s ready, I’m ready.
"I really love film as an art form; I love watching old movies, I’m a cinephile, and it’s like those rare films rise to the top.
"There are certain filmmakers that have a multitude of those films — Paul is one of them, Quentin [Tarantino] is one of them, Marty’s one of them.
"So I just let them know I’m ready and I’m game if they are."
Meanwhile, Harris explained last year that he has "no clue" about what's happening with the third Sherlock Holmes movie.
He played criminal mastermind Professor James Moriarty in the original 2009 flick and the 2011 sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and revealed that he keeps taking down the IMDb page that claims he is set to star in the next movie.
The Chernobyl actor told The Direct: "Yeah. I mean, I keep taking that down [on IMDb] and someone keeps putting it back up. I have no idea.
"No one's talking to me about it. And I really wish people would stop asking me ... It should be on there. I mean, no one's talking to me about it. I have no clue."
