Tessa Thompson has played coy about whether she will be in Avengers: Doomsday.
The 42-year-old actress has portrayed Valkyrie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok and was last seen in 2023’s The Marvels, and with Doomsday set to have the largest character roster in the franchise’s history, Thompson has kept her lips sealed about any potential involvement in the film.
When The Playlist asked the Hedda star if she would be returning for the 2026 blockbuster, she said: “Oh, [I’m] not able to confirm anything.”
Even so, Thompson noted she would “for sure” play Valkyrie again if the opportunity to do so presented itself.
The Creed star added: “I just love the character so much that I would always be interested.”
Despite refusing to confirm or deny her possible involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, Thompson had nothing but praise for the MCU.
She said: “I think this is the coolest thing about hanging out inside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: all the incredible people that you get to play with, both the incredible craftspeople that create these worlds, all the amazing directors that they invite into these spaces, and all of the incredible talent.
“And also, I think there are so many tonal spaces you can go to inside of a Marvel movie.”
Avengers: Doomsday will star Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (James ‘Bucky’ Barnes), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian) and Lewis Pullman (Sentry).
The movie will also see the return of X-Men legends Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Channing Tatum (Gambit), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique).
Finally, Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) round out the cast.
It has also recently been confirmed Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers after last playing Captain America in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Doomsday - which is being helmed by directors Joe and Anthony Russo and is set to land in cinemas on December 18, 2026 - will likely follow the Avengers, the New Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four as they desperately try to stop Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) from unleashing his devastating plans for the Multiverse.
Recently, Alan Cumming revealed he accidentally injury Pedro Pascal on the set of Avengers: Doomsday.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host asked the 60-year-old actor was asked what fans could expect from Nightcrawler in the movie, to which he replied: “All of [the X-Men cast] are in it, too.
“What was funny was that in my first scene with Pedro, he hurt his neck and had to go home. I broke Pedro.”
The Traitors hosted insisted the mishap did not take place during a fight scene, and was simply a production slip-up.
He explained: “No, I wasn't fighting. No, no. I was just, sort of, being ... we were just together in a scene, and I wasn't fighting, no.
“He's got these big long arms and everything, so it's quite complicated. I do have a tail, but I didn't have my tail on at the time. Pedro didn't have his arms on either.”
