Florence Pugh fell to sleep during Lady Macbeth scene
Florence Pugh has confessed to falling asleep as she lay in bed for a scene in the film 'Lady Macbeth'.
Florence Pugh fell asleep on the set of 'Lady Macbeth'.
The 27-year-old actress played the lead role in the 2016 period drama film and explained how she got a little too immersed in a scene where she needed to be in bed.
Speaking on the Dish podcast, Florence said: "I actually once fell asleep. It was my second movie, 'Lady Macbeth', and I'd done a whole, like, set up where they'd done all the lighting and they were ready to shoot and I was still in sleeping mode, obviously.
"And the scene was that I would be asleep, and then after some time, I would wake up, and then the action for the sunrise or whatever would happen. And so Will (Oldroyd), the director, was like, 'Okay, so Florence, in your own time, you're obviously gonna be sleeping and then you wake up in your own time and we'll just be filming, you know, you're waking up and it's exciting.'
"And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure, sure, got it, got it. Close my eyes, fall asleep, they're filming, and then eventually I wake up in like a startle like, (gasps), but I'm like, I'm like acting waking up like, 'Ahhh'.
The 'Oppenheimer' star added: "Anyway, he calls cut and he comes over and he's like, 'Yeah, good good. So I think next time we'll just shorten the sleeping bit.'"
Florence explained that she relishes scenes that involve being in bed and she sleeps soundly amid the hustle and bustle of movie sets.
She told hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett: "Oh my god, they are the best. Because, you need to lie in the bed as they set up and see what you're going to do in the bed, and you're like, 'Well, I think I'm going to go like this, and then I'm going to go like this', and like, 'Okay, well, we need to do this, and this, and this, and this.'
"And then they say, 'Florence, do you want to go back to your trailer?' or, 'Do you want to go back to your room?' I always say no, and I just stay there like a good little bean, because then they don't need anyone to come in and help light."
