Jerry Hall has shared her secret to staying in shape at the age of 70.

The Celebrity Traitors star has revealed she refuses to go the gym because she hates the idea of exercising purely for "vanity" and instead keeps herself fit by indulging her love of gardening.

She told Grazia magazine: "I don’t like going to a gym where you’re exercising for no benefit except vanity. If you’re gardening, you’re making something look beautiful."

Jerry went on to reveal she rarely diets but she uses an old pair of jeans to keep track of her size and will stop indulging in her favourite pasta dinners if she can't do them up

She explained: "When you can’t close them, you need to lay off the pasta for a few days!"

It comes after Jerry previously admitted she would rather retire than have cosmetic surgery because she wants to grow old naturally.

The veteran model thinks some women in the public eye who have gone under the knife to improve their appearance just look "scary" and she would resist any pressure to do the same.

Asked if she thinks people try to hard to look perfect, she told Vogue magazine: “Let’s face it, plastic surgery is not perfected. "

"Look at the photos from the Oscars. Look at the women! They look scary.

"I guess some people have to do it for their career, but I would just rather retire."

Jerry has embraced the signs of ageing and doesn't want to "scare" her grandchildren by changing her appearance with Botox and fillers.

She added: "I think we should be allowed to look 70. Why not? Why should we try to look 50? I mean, you want to look a good 70.

"What’s wrong with wrinkles? I have loads of wrinkles, but I don’t mind. I’m 70, I should have wrinkles. I don’t want to look weird, I don’t want to scare my grandchildren."

Jerry also dismissed suggestions she relies on dermatologists, doctors and other experts to keep her looking her best. She said: “Nooooo. I don’t go to the doctor. Never! I think medicine’s bad for you. I don’t want to find anything wrong with me."
