Renee Zellweger felt 'wholly herself' in Oscars gown
Renee Zellweger has admitted she felt "wholly" herself in the white Armani Prive gown she wore to the 2020 Oscars - even though the dress was weighed down with heavy handsewn gem stones.
Renee Zellweger felt "wholly" herself in the white sparkly gown she wore to the 2020 Oscars.
The 'Bridget Jones' actress admits she usually feels more comfortable dressed down in tracksuits, but she has revealed there were two red carpet frocks which actually made her feel good - the Carolina Herrera dress she wore to the Met Gala in 2011 and the white Armani Prive outfit she took to the Academy Awards.
Speaking to British Vogue magazine, she explained: "I loved the 'Champagne bubbles' dress for the Met Gala in 2011 .
"We tested that dress throughout its construction with camera flashes and spotlights from every angle to make certain the strategically sewn crystal 'bubbles' were doing their jobs.
"And the 2020 white Armani Prive Oscars dress was also incredibly special. I love that dress. A billion hand-sewn gems!
"It weighed two tons, but felt like a T-shirt. Those stand out in my memory because they mark very meaningful, personal moments and though they’re sophisticated works of art, I felt wholly myself in them, which is unusual for the dog van lady who goes to the vet."
In the interview - conducted by Hugh Grant - Renee was told she is "very chic" and the actress replied: "I’m not chic. I’m wearing a tracksuit ...
"I bought these [sweatpants] in 2018 and I just sewed up a hole in the pocket this morning because I tore them at the gym two days ago and then I bled on them because I stabbed myself with a needle. But that’s another story."
