Slash says Guns N' Roses will likely piece together their new material when they take a year off in 2027.

The American hard rock legends dropped two new tracks, Nothin and Atlas, in December 2025, marking their first new material since 2023's The General and Perhaps.

Appearing on SiriusXM's Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Slash gave an update on the long-awaited new Guns N' Roses album and their upcoming plans.

He said: "We'll get done with [shows in India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand in November and December], and next year basically Guns is off. But I'm hoping that, because we have so much material that we need to sort of, like, put together and start getting into that whole phase, so I'm hoping that's what the next phase is gonna be."

The axe-slayer went on: "We have so much material, and it's all over the place, and it needs to ... That's one of the things that's been hard to do, is the amount of time and focus it takes to sort of get all that material together and start working on it."

On why they haven't done anything on tour, he insisted: "It doesn't work on the road.

"Writing on the road for me is easy, and I'm the only one that seems to like to sort of sit up all night and do that. But Duff [McKagan, bassist] does his own thing, and Axl [Rose, frontman] does his own thing. And so we're all creating on the road just individually. But getting us together and trying to do that while you're touring is next to impossible."

Guns haven't released an album since 2008’s Chinese Democracy, however, that record didn't feature any of the classic lineup other than Axl. Their album prior to that was The Spaghetti Incident? in 1993.

The band's last date of their 2026 tour is December 17 in Aukland, New Zealand.

Before then, the Paradise City rockers will appear as special guests at California, Dream On: Aerosmith and Friends, a two‑night celebration of the Walk This Way legends at the Hollywood Bowl on October 29 and November 1.
