Pop star Olivia Rodrigo has been left "so disappointed" after her two Manchester shows, which were due to take place this week, at Co-op Live have been postponed, and the troubled venue also postponed rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's show on Wednesday night (01.05.24).
Olivia Rodrigo has been left "so disappointed" after her two Manchester shows have been postponed.
The 21-year-old pop star was due to play two sold-out gigs at brand-new arena Co-op Live, the UK's largest indoor concert venue, on Friday (03.05.24) and Saturday (04.05.24), but organisers have been forced to axe the performances due to an "on-going venue-related technical issue".
Olivia wrote on her Instagram Stories: "hello! I've been having such a great time in Europe so far and I'm sooooo disappointed that we're unable to perform in Manchester due to on-going venue-related technical issues. we're doing our best to reschedule the show. you can hold onto your tickets for further info or request a refund at your point of purchase. more info will be sent directly to ticket holders. I'm so bummed and I really hope to see you all soon (sic)"
Co-op Live - which has a 23,500 capacity - postponed the arena's opening for a third time on Wednesday night (01.05.24).
Rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was due to perform, but his gig was axed due to "a venue-related technical issue", after concert-goers had already arrived at the £365 million arena.
A post on Co-op Live's X account at 6.40pm on Wednesday read: "Due to a venue-related technical issue, tonight’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie show will no longer go ahead. We kindly ask fans to leave the area. Tickets holders will receive further information in due course.
"We deeply apologise for the significant inconvenience this will cause for many. (sic)"
The 28-year-old rapper was left "heated" about the postponement.
He wrote on his Instagram Stories: "Something happened with the venue while I was at soundcheck today that caused cancellation of the show.
"We are working on rescheduling in the next few days. I'm heated about the situation too, but safety first.
"Manchester, I got you. Just stay tuned for further info."
Just two hours later, the venue also revealed Olivia's gigs this week had been postponed.
They wrote: "Due to an on-going venue-related technical issue, the scheduled performances of Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour on 3rd and 4th May are being postponed. Ticket holders can either hold onto their tickets or obtain a refund at point of purchase.
