Dwayne Johnson 'deeply moved' by Japan's 'emotional embrace'
Dwayne Johnson went to the country to promote his new movie Moana - the live-action version of the animated Disney film he starred in as Maui.
Dwayne Johnson was “deeply moved” by the “emotional embrace” he got in Japan.
The Jumanji actor went to the country to promote his new movie Moana - the live-action version of the animated Disney movie he starred in as Maui.
He’s reprised the role for the new film, and has been touring the world in support of the movie, updating fans on his activities via his social media pages.
Sharing snaps of himself meeting Japanese fans on Instagram, Dwayne, aka The Rock, wrote: “Dear Japan - I was deeply moved by your beautiful and emotional embrace of me.
“I’ll take every word you said and all the tears of joy you cried, as this was a very profound experience that I’ll never forget.”
He called himself a “grateful man”, as he concluded by saying: “My soul was touched. Until we meet again…”
In another Instagram post, Dwayne shared a video of himself meeting a tearful fan called Kaho, who told him: “You are my hero”.
She struggled to control her sobs as she came to terms with meeting her hero, with Dwayne taking a selfie of them together and giving Kaho a warm hug.
Poking fun at his Jumanji co-star Kevin Hart, he wrote: “Funny how @kevinhart4real says the exact same thing to me every time he sees me, about me being his hero. Cries the exact same way too.”
He then thanked Kaho for her kindness, adding: “Love you back Japan, til we meet again.”
Kaho was among those commenting on the Instagram video, writing: “OMG IT’S MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! This is the greatest gift of my lifetime!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU MY HERO THE ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
At the Moana premiere in Tokyo, Dwayne admitted he was somewhat nervous about walking down the blue carpeted stairs with his “size 15 feet”, after indulging in some of his Teremana tequila.
Dwayne joked: “I really loved being introduced at my premiere and NOT being told I have to walk down the ‘steepest stairway to heaven’ as the moment is captured LIVE across Japan and around the world.”
He added: “Just walk down slowly… and sideways… smile, wave, stay cool, repeat.”
