Catherine Zeta-Jones has been left "heartbroken" by Bonnie Tyler's death.
The 56-year-old actress was particularly close to the late Welsh singer, who passed away aged 75 on Wednesday (08.07.26) night, because she was married to Catherine's cousin, Robert Sullivan, for more than 50 years.
Catherine wrote on Instagram: "My heart is broken with the news that our dearest Bonnie Tyler has passed away.
"Bonnie was married to my cousin and has been such a part of my life. We are photographed here together the night before my wedding.
"She sang and rocked it at my wedding."
Welsh star Catherine has remembered her compatriot Bonnie as an "extraordinary woman with vocals to match", and insisted the Total Eclipse of the Heart hitmaker "could have been a comedian" because she was so funny.
She added: "An extraordinary woman with vocals to match. A one of kind artist, who so easily could have been a comedian because she was one of the funniest people I ever met. Thank you Bonnie for the joy you brought so many. Sleep tight beautiful lady. We shall forever ‘Keep A Welcome In The Hillsides’ of Wales for you. Sending my love to Robert and the family. God Bless"
Footloose star Kevin Bacon also paid tribute to Bonnie, who recorded her 1984 single Holding Out for a Hero for the movie's soundtrack.
He told Entertainment Weekly: "One of the great voices of rock.
"I could not imagine chicken-racing a tractor to any other song. RIP."
Jackass star Johnny Knoxville wrote on his Instagram Story: "Bonnie Tyler, thanks for letting ur music be a part of Jackass. RIP (sic)"
Bonnie died on Wednesday, weeks after she was placed into an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal.
A message posted on Bonnie's website read: "Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.
"We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy."
Bonnie was placed into an induced coma in May, but a few weeks ago, it was revealed she had woken up, though she remained "seriously ill".
Her representative said: "Bonnie is no longer in a coma, but remains seriously ill.
"Although her condition is improving, the recovery process is slow."
At the time, it was reported she was expected to make a full recovery.
