Megan Thee Stallion quits Broadway
Megan Thee Stallion has exited her role in the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical two weeks early declaring it's "been an honour" to appear in the hit show.
Megan Thee Stallion has quit her role on Broadway.
The 31-year-old singer has been appearing in a production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical and her run had been expected to continue until May 17, but Megan Thee Stallion has now confirmed she's stepped down two weeks early and her final performance at the Al Hirschfield Theatre in New York will take place on May 1.
In a post on Instagram, Megan Thee Stallion wrote: "Hotties, my last performance as Zidler in @moulinrougebway will be May 1. It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater!
"Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work! I’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful.
"And to all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey! I LOVE YALL. See you soon."
The news comes shortly after Megan Thee Stallion confirmed she's split from her basketball player boyfriend Klay Thompson after almost a year of dating with the music star suggesting the sportsman had been unfaithful.
In a statement to Us Weekly, Megan Thee Stallion explained: “I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward.
"I’m taking this time to prioritise myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."
Megan Thee Stallion's Broadway exit also comes just weeks after the music star was forced to leave the show mid-way through a performance last month.
The singer was admitted to hospital where she was diagnosed with extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels. She missed the following day's show but was back on stage by the end of the week.
Megan Thee Stallion later admitted the health scare had been a "real wake-up call".
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "Last night was a real wake-up call for me. I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me.
"I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t. Hotties I wanna be real with y’all because you mean everything to me and I hate letting y'all down ... I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been.
"I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100 per cent the way you deserve. Thank you for always riding with me and loving me through everything."
