SZA reveals uncertainty about major life decision
Rap star SZA admits she isn't sure if she wants kids or not.
SZA is undecided about whether she wants children.
The 36-year-old music star — whose real name is Solana Rowe — revealed that her mother waited until she was 43 to give birth to her, and SZA has now admitted to having conflicted feelings about parenthood.
SZA told i-D magazine: "She can rest knowing that the mitochondrial DNA of every woman that came before her lives through me."
The Grammy winner added that the decision has left her reflecting on her own legacy, and that she's in no rush to make up her mind.
She explained: "I'm bossed up, I'm taking my time. It's spooky out here — maybe I won't have kids. Maybe I will. Do I really want the magic and the love to end with me, or is it the end of a karmic cycle?"
Meanwhile, in November, SZA observed that she was in the midst of a "transition".
The singer acknowledged that her life was changing, but she didn't know what direction she was taking at the time.
The chart-topping star told GQ magazine: "I think I’m just in a transition period where I’m levelling into a new section of who I am as a person. And that requires whatever the f*** this weird-a** vibe is right now inside.
"It’s time to shake. I don’t know what I’m shaking or where I’m shaking to, but it is time to shake. I can feel it."
SZA also revealed that she holds herself to exceptionally high standards.
The music star said: "It makes me just want to be a better everything.
"I want to carve out the most dead*** version of me that I can find. I want to excavate everything, and see what kind of product comes from that excavation. I know every time I go through a spiritual or energetic or mental excavation, the external result is always something crazy, in a beautiful way."
