Rebecca Gayheart has thanked those who have offered financial support to her family.

The 54-year-old actress shared a series of throwback photos of her late husband Eric Dane - who died from ALS on Thursday (19.02.26), 10 months after sharing his diagnosis - and their daughters Billie, 15, and 14-year-old Georgia along with a short message of gratitude for the donations to a GoFundMe set up in honour of the Grey's Anatomy star after his passing to help ease their financial burden.

Sharing a screenshot of the fundraising page and a link for people to donate, Rebecca simply wrote: “Thank you to everyone."

Eric's friend, Mike McGuiness, recently defended the GoFundMe campaign.

He wrote on Instagram on Friday (20.02.26): “My friend of almost two decades just let us after a brutal battle with ALS.

“I’m the positive spin guy and can come up with something hopeful in most any situation. This one broke me.

“COVID and ALS did a number on his work life and he, sadly, couldn’t leave his family with the resources he had hoped. A GoFundMe is being made and I will post it on my story for anyone able to help.”

Meanwhile, in the wake of Eric's death, it was revealed he had been helped financially by Johnny Depp, who had given over one of his homes to the actor to live in "basically rent-free".

A source told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: “Eric [had] one less thing to worry about.

"[He was] living basically rent-free in one of the homes Johnny owns above the Sunset Strip. He told Eric to pay whatever he could or — couldn’t for rent.

“Johnny wanted to do what he could to ease the financial burden.”

The family of the Euphoria actor announced his death in a statement on Thursday (19.02.25).

They said in a statement: "With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS.

"He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the centre of his world.

"Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.

"He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time."
