Monster Hunter series will ‘of course’ continue after Wilds, producer says
Capcom has insisted the Monster Hunter franchise will “of course” continue beyond Wilds, as the team balances newcomer-friendly design with tougher updates shaped by fan feedback.
The Monster Hunter series will “of course” be expanded on after Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom has said.
Speaking at the PlayStation Partner Awards - where the 2025 action-RPG took home both the Grand Award and the Users’ Choice Award - producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that “of course, we don’t intend to stop the series here,” and that Capcom aims to “let more people play” while exploring opportunities beyond games to grow the Monster Hunter IP.
Wilds itself has had quite the arc since its February launch, and director Yuya Tokuda openly acknowledged that early player feedback - particularly criticisms about content volume and difficulty - hit hard, prompting the team to issue an apology and refocus development efforts.
He said: “The development team was able to turn everyone’s feedback into an asset.”
Tokuda credited players for helping shape the substantial updates that followed.
Those updates have increasingly targeted veteran hunters, as Tokuda noted that the game initially skewed too accessible, a result of deliberate work to remove barriers identified in Monster Hunter World and to welcome newcomers with features like Focus Mode.
But as updates roll out, the team has been adding more challenging content to re-engage long-time players, and Tokuda even encouraged those who stopped after launch to “pick it up again”.
The franchise, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, has become one of Capcom’s crown jewels since Monster Hunter World exploded globally in 2018.
With Wilds still expanding and Tsujimoto hinting at broader ambitions for the IP, fans can expect more hunts, and perhaps more surprises, on the horizon.
