Krafton is “considering a sequel positively” to ‘Hi-Fi Rush’.

The publisher bought developer Tango Gameworks in August after the studio was closed in May by Xbox, and while Krafton has not greenlit a follow-up to ‘Hi-Fi Rush’ yet, the company’s boss Colin Mack has said a sequel is very much on the table.

Speaking with IGN, he said: “We are considering a sequel positively.

“[But] we are not yet at the stage where we can say specifically, ‘This is what we're going to do.’”

Even so, ‘Hi-Fi Rush’ creative director John Johanas insisted the publisher was weighing up its options before it moved ahead with a second ‘Hi-Fi Rush’.

He explained: “Many of our staff have a lot of love for [‘Hi-Fi Rush’], so we feel like we have options. We’re currently at the stage of considering various opportunities.”

If a sequel does happen, ‘Hi-Fi Rush development director’ Kazuaki Egashira said the possible game would be significantly different to its predacessor to ensure the series doesn’t become “outdated”.

He explained: “‘Hi-Fi Rush’ became popular as a new IP, but if ‘Hi-Fi Rush’ were to stay the same forever, it would eventually become outdated.

“I think Tango Gameworks is about taking on new challenges. I hope to continue to work in a way that puts developers at the center, without losing our passion.”
