Elle Macpherson changed her wellness routine when she turned 50.

The 59-year-old model feels she "hit a wall" when she reached her landmark birthday, acknowledging that she "couldn’t just rely on genetics" any longer.

During an appearance on the 'Amanda Wakeley: StyleDNA' podcast, Elle shared: "Everything that I was doing, I sort of learned how to do, wasn’t working anymore. I realised I couldn’t just rely on genetics."

Elle ultimately developed an entirely new wellness routine in a bid to take better care of herself.

The model - who was nicknamed 'The Body' in the 1980s - made a concerted effort to avoid caffeine and she adopted a new fitness plan, too.

Elle - who will turn 60 on March 29 - added: "I go to bed with a smile. I go to bed with a happy heart. And a night mask. And no clothes. My skin."

Elle previously admitted that she's made a concerted effort to improve her overall health and wellbeing in recent years.

The runway star - who has also enjoyed success as an actress - told Red magazine: "By the time you reach 50, you realise it's all about caring for your body and your levels of vitality, so you can do the things you want to do.

"I've tried all sorts of workouts and diets, but now a lot of the things I did in my 30s and 40s no longer work for me.

"I used to think I was healthy because I could survive on three hours sleep and snack on coffee ... In people's eyes, I suspect I still looked great, but I didn't feel great. That was demoralising.

"I didn't have a sense of vitality. I felt unlike myself, sort of ... fragmented."
