Screen debut

Nicolas made his acting debut in the 1981 TV pilot 'The Best of Times', but the show never developed into a series.

He later picked up a leading role in the romantic comedy 'Valley Girl' in 1983 - a film which has since been branded a cult classic.

He eventually got the chance to work with his uncle later that year in the movie 'Rumble Fish'.
