He once was left with only $11k in the bank

After the initial release of ‘Mandy’ in 1974, Manilow went from broke to millionaire in a single day.

He went from bouncing checks to million dollar checks. But after hiring the wrong guy, Manilow didn’t see any of his money and was only left with $11,000 in his account.

He said: "I hired the wrong guy.

"From 'Mandy' all the way through to 'Copacabana,' I didn't see anything. And I didn't know it until my manager, Garry Kief, came along and said, 'You know, you have only got $11,000 in the bank.'

"From 'Mandy' all the way through 'Copa,' I had $11,000 in the bank."
