Amy Dunne, the wife of Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck), whose carefully curated life fractures when she discovers Nick’s affair with his student Andie Fitzgerald (Emily Ratajkowski). To punish him, she stages an elaborate disappearance designed to make it look like Nick brutally murdered her, using fabricated diary entries and a staged evidence to turn public opinion and police suspicion against him. After her plan begins to unravel, she hides out with her wealthy ex-boyfriend Desi Collings (Neil Patrick Harris). When she decides she wants back into her life with Nick, Amy seduces Desi and slits his throat during sex, then returns home covered in his blood to claim she escaped from him after she was kidnapped. Amy’s actions are driven by vengeance, control, and a ruthless determination to shape narratives to her advantage.
