A Charli XCX diss track?
Taylor Swift fans are convinced that Actually Romantic - a standout track from The Life of a Showgirl - is a not-so-subtle response to Charli XCX.
The song opens with the pointed lyric:
“I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave.”
Later, Swift sings: “High-fived my ex and then you said you’re glad he ghosted me. Wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to see my face…”
Though cryptic, listeners believe this is Taylor’s clapback to Charli’s track Sympathy is a Knife from her 2024 album Brat, in which she sings: “Don’t wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show … Fingers crossed behind my back, I hope they break up real quick.”
Charli’s “boyfriend” at the time? George Daniel, drummer for The 1975, whose bandmate Matty Healy, had a brief but very public romance with Swift in 2023.
Neither artist has confirmed the feud, but fans think the lyrics say plenty.
Charli and George married this summer.
