The 78-year-old singer shocked Jimmy Kimmel on a 2016 episode of the 57-year-old TV host's eponymous ABC evening talk show when he revealed he does not own a smartphone and gets his staff to post things on X - formerly called Twitter - on his behalf.

Elton - who has an iPad to keep in touch with his family - said: "I don't have a phone.

"The office staff run Twitter for me. I don't do it myself."

Jimmy quizzed: "You can afford a phone right?"

The Rocketman hitmaker replied: "I just don't want one."
