Not happy: Terrence Howard
Terrance Howard draws the line at playing a gay character.
Although the actor admitted the “biggest mistake” of his career was turning down the chance to play Marvin Gaye in a biopic about the music icon, Howard insisted he ultimately couldn’t take the part because he wouldn’t kiss another man, and the film likely would have covered Gaye’s rumoured exploration of his sexuality.
Howard said: “I was over at Quincy Jones’s house, and I’m asking Quincy, ‘I’m hearing rumours that Marvin was gay’ and I’m like, ‘Was he gay?’ And Quincy’s like, ‘Yes.’
“They would’ve wanted to do that [in the movie], and I wouldn’t have been able to do that.”
Speaking on locking lips with another man, the ‘Empire’ star said he would “cut [his] lips off if [he] kissed some man”.
