The ‘Troy’ actor grew up Christian but converted to Buddhism after moving to Hollywood. In 2019, Orlando revealed in an interview that he started practicing Buddhism because meditation helps him stay grounded. He has also won several awards for humanitarian causes he's championed through Buddhist organisations, such SGI-UK (the UK branch of Soka Gakkai International).
