Taking the title of the scariest movie is 2012’s ‘Sinister’. The supernatural thriller from Scott Derrickson sees Ethan Hawke (pictured) playing Ellison Oswalt, a now struggling true crime writer who moves his family into the house of terrible tragedy. Soon after his move, Ellison discovers a collection of Super 8 movies which depict the horrific murders of families.

His discovery is followed by supernatural goings on which put him and his family in danger.
