Kathy Bates

The 'Misery' actress was diagnosed with ovarian and breast cancer in 2003 and 2012 respectively and explained that she chose to keep her first battle with the illness private.

Bates told PEOPLE: "I didn't tell anybody.

"My agent at the time was very old-school and didn't want me to be the poster child for ovarian cancer.

"I didn't want anyone to know, but it really took a lot out of me."
