Christopher Lee
Even horror film legend Christopher Lee wasn't keen on the "obscene" elements of the genre.
The late actor - who starred in classics like 'Dracula' and 'The Curse of Frankenstein' – explained that he found scary movies "nauseating" due to their overreliance on gore.
He said: "I find it quite nauseating what they do. The blood is all over the screen like an avalanche - the mutilation - dreadful things, and I just don't enjoy that.
"What you don't see is far more frightening than what you do see."
