Top BBC role

By the 1960s, Attenborough quit the BBC to study at the London School of Economics.

He then returned to the broadcaster in the important role of controller of BBC Two - one of just three channels in black and white.

Attenborough went on to help launch colour TV as part of his role and brought the iconic surreal sketch comedy show 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' to screens.
