Road Trip
‘Road Trip’ ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to teen comedy.
The 2000 picture sees Josh (Breckin Meyer) and his college buddies go on a 1,800-mile long journey from New York to Texas to save the protagonist’s relationship with his long-distance girlfriend Tiffany (Rachel Blanchard) after he accidentally mails his videotaped affair with another girl to her.
Often called a ‘gross-out’ teen comedy, director Todd Phillips - who made his directorial debt with the film - rejected this label, and said his work was more than just a simple cringe-fest.
He explained: “I find the term 'gross-out comedy' sort of dismissive. It's very easy to be gross, it's very hard to be funny. I think why ‘Road Trip’ works is not because of the gross stuff, it's because of the characters.”
