Surprising returns
'Dune' saw many major characters depart, namely Oscar Isaac's Duke Leto Atreides and Jason Momoa's Duncan Idaho. Still, that doesn’t mean that both won’t return.
In a recent interview, Oscar admitted that although his character did indeed bite the bust in the 2021 movie, that doesn’t mean he cannot return for screen time.
The 'Star Wars' actor said: "Dad’s dead, baby, dad’s dead. It’s a bummer. Maybe in some flashbacks or some force ghosts, but that’s not that one. They don’t do force ghosts."
Duncan also returns in the following book, 'Dune: Messiah', where he is resurrected as a ghola. Editor for 'Dune', Joe Walker then teased that perhaps there was more of Jason's hero yet to come.
He said: "What's really interesting about Frank Herbert's book is that some characters do come back, but not necessarily in the same form that they took originally. Those who know the book know that Duncan Idaho, for example, reappears, so it's not over until the last lady sings."
